Young MIAS Member Spotlight Alert!
Esteemed members, we are pleased to announce that our favorite day of the month is upon us again. That’s right, it’s time to announce the feature of this month’s Young MIAS Member Spotlight!
This month’s featured lawyer, originally from the storied city of Caracas, Venezuela, is an associate in Reed Smith’s Global Commercial Disputes Group, where she focuses her practice, which encompasses complex litigation matters in state and federal courts as well as international commercial and investment arbitrations, across a myriad of sectors. Ever the go-getter and conference-goer, you have no doubt seen her (and maybe even had the pleasure of meeting her or watching her speak) on the conference circuit – indeed, this month’s featured lawyer is quite active in a number of organizations. She has been recognized by the Miami-Dade Bar Association as a “40 under 40” attorney for personifying excellence in the legal profession, and by Jus Mundi’s Jus Connect as one of the Most Active Female Arbitration Lawyers.
She was also recently appointed Vice-Chair of the International Law Committee of the Miami-Dade Bar Association. Having exhausted the most obvious clues, allow us to confirm your guess about this month’s featured lawyer. The focus of this month’s Young MIAS Member Spotlight is the remarkable @ Ana Ulseth!
Ana has experience with international arbitrations under various institutional rules including but not limited to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), and the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
Prior to joining Reed Smith, Ana practiced international dispute resolution as an international litigation and arbitration associate for top-ranked Am Law firms; she worked in-house in the business and legal department of a mass media and entertainment company; and she developed and taught college-level public speaking workshops focused on international relations concepts for a local public university. Additionally, Ana often serves as a guest lecturer at Florida International University’s College of Law, where she has taught courses on various complex, international dispute resolution topics including on Investment and Commercial Arbitration, the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, and the Foreign Money Judgments Act.
In her (seemingly scarce) free time, you can find Ana surfing in the summers; snowboarding in the winters; and horseback riding or playing tennis year-round.
