Young MIAS Member Spotlight on Daria Pietropaolo!
To kick off what will without a doubt be a banner year for Young MIAS, we thought we’d feature a very special up-and-coming member of the Miami legal community and one of Young MIAS’s greatest supporters. This month, we’re excited to feature Daria Pietropaolo, who is an Associate in the Miami office of Shook Hardy & Bacon and a member of the firm’s Business Litigation practice group.
Daria is an attorney with training in business law and international arbitration. She earned a Master of Laws in international arbitration from the University of Miami School of Law while earning her J.D. magna cum laude from the University. As a student, Daria was a Miami Public Interest Scholar and was granted memberships in the Order of the Coif and the Order of Barristers, and won multiple awards for academic achievements. Daria also competed in the International Moot Court Program as a member of the 29th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. As a research assistant to Professor Kathleen Claussen, Daria researched and edited publications on various topics including international investment law, international trade dispute settlements, and labor provisions in trade agreements.
Prior to joining Shook Hardy & Bacon, Daria gained practical experience as a law student intern in the Civil Division of the International Trade Field Office for the U.S. Department of Justice. She then served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Timothy M. Reif in the U.S. Court of International Trade, where she learned more about case management, legal writing, and judicial decision-making in international trade.
Last year, Daria was named to the University of Miami's 30 Under 30 list based on the impact she has made so far in her profession, community, and at the University.
In her current role, Daria supports clients in navigating the complexities of business litigation and international arbitration. In addition to serving on several trial teams, Daria provides guidance on dispute resolution strategies, advising clients on issues of U.S. law pertaining to discovery, arbitrability, and international trade. She consults with clients on multi-tiered dispute resolution clauses as well as investment treaty issues under various jurisdictions. In addition to being a key member of Shook Hardy & Bacon’s business litigation team, she is a regular attendee and speaker at industry events.
Outside of work, Daria enjoys running, fishing, cooking new recipes, and spending time with family.

Continuing to collaborate with former classmates and University of Miami School of Law alumni. As a student in Miami Law's International Arbitration LL.M., I first experienced Miami’s welcoming arbitration community. I am proud to call many classmates and professors both colleagues and friends. These authentic relationships have enhanced my learning, creativity, and practical experience. I look forward to continue to collaborate with this quality group.
