Chatbots are software that can successfully communicate with human beings. General legal issues may arise when employing a conversational agent in the communication process with humans, and create concerns regarding liability, consumer protection, privacy, cybersecurity, human rights, and others. Recently, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union proposed a new regulation that intends to harmonise the main issues related to artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence Act). Some of its provisions would apply to conversational artificial intelligence.
This presentation will address the potential use of chatbots in alternative dispute resolution and the impact of the new EU proposal and other policies.
This event is presented by the Miami International Arbitration Society and Florida International University College of Law, and hosted by Hogan Lovells US LLP. This event is for MIAS members and friends. Registration is required at https://chatbotsADR.eventbrite.com
